Note:
1. Industrial accidents refer to injuries and deaths arising from industrial activities in an industrial undertaking as defined under the Factories and Industrial Undertakings Ordinance. Since 1 January 1998, Labour Department has used the date of occurrence of an injury as the basis for computing work injury statistics instead of the date of reporting in order to reflect more accurately the number of work injuries occurring in the year.
2. New Works refer to those construction sites where new development or re-development works are being carried out and of which the employment figures on the number of manual site workers are captured and published by the Census and Statistics Department. This included, without limited to, building, piling demolition, site formation and civil engineering works.
3. RMAA means Repair, Maintenance, Alteration, and Addition and refers to those minor works such as construction projects for village-type houses in the New Territories, minor alterations, repairs, maintenance and interior decoration of existing buildings.
4. The above accident figures are recorded as at 31 March 2008.
