Dr. Alex Amato is currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Architecture of the University of Hong Kong specialising in Life Cycle Assessment and Prefabrication. Alex has been in private practice in the UK prior to joining the University of Hong Kong where his current research interests have focussed on the quantification of sustainability and wider adoption of prefabrication within the local market. Alex has published widely on the subject of life cycle assessment and has spoken at a number of conferences and events. In the last 3 years, in collaboration with Davis Langdon & Seah, Alex has led the development and formulation of internationally recognised methodologies for quantifying the life cycle assessment of building materials in the Hong Kong context as well as approaches for combining environmental and economic whole life impacts. It has been through this work that the development of the quantified sustainability tool being presented has evolved.

Professor Richard Frewer is currently the Chair Professor of the Department of Architecture at the University of Hong Kong. Richard has worked in the private sector for Arup Associates in the UK prior to joining academia initially at the University of Bath and most recently the University of Hong Kong. Richard has been active both locally and internationally in the promotion of sustainability in the built environment and is currently an advisor on both the CEPAS study and HK-BEAM group here in Hong Kong. Through his work at the university and industry collaboration with Davis Langdon & Seah, Richard has overseen the development of the quantification methodology for sustainability tool being presented as well as assisting in the promotion of the benefits achievable through the adoption of quantified sustainability assessments.

Mr Ivan KO is the Founder, Chairman and CEO of the Advantage Group. The core business of the Group is to provide real estate finance services to banks in China relating to loan origination, risk management, servicing and securitization. In 2002, the Group obtained investments from institutional investors including International Finance Corporation (IFC), Deutsche Bank and Netherlands Development Finance Corporation (FMO) to expand the mortgage services business to banks in China.

Mr Ko has extensive experience in real estate development in both Hong Kong and Beijing. Prior to Advantage, Mr Ko held senior management post in two listed property developers in Hong Kong and Beijing.

Mr Ko graduated from the Chinese University of Hong Kong with a business degree. He later studied a Master Degree course in Real Estate Development at the University of Hong Kong and completed the Real Estate Finance Program at the Wharton School. Mr Ko also attended the School of Mortgage Banking in United States. In August 2002, he founded the Hong Kong Chapter of China Housing Industry Association and was elected the Chairman. In the 2002 AGM of CHIA, Mr Ko becomes a Vice President of CHIA. In October 2002, he was appointed a member of the Personal Data (Privacy) Advisory Committee.

Mr Franklin LAM heads both Hong Kong equities and regional property research at UBS Investment Research. He was rated top Hong Kong researcher and property researcher by a number of professional investors' polls in the past seven years. He was a member of the Hong Kong Government's Central Policy Unit over the period of the Asian Crisis. He qualified as a Chartered Accountant in the UK and has a degree in Economics from the University of Manchester.
