I am Antony Sihombing, a PhD Candidate in Urban Design at Faculty of Architecture, Building and Planning, The University of Melbourne and I have submitted my thesis entitled "Conflicting Images of Kampung and Kota in Jakarta". In 1984 I graduated my Bachelor of Architecture from Department of Architecture Faculty of Engineering, University of Indonesia. In 1997 I graduated my Master of Planning and Design (in Urban Design) from Faculty of Architecture, Building and Planning, The University of Melbourne. From 1990 up to present, I am a senior lecturer at Department of Architecture Faculty of Engineering, University of Indonesia and teaching in Architectural Design Studio, Site Planning and Urban Design in under graduate and postgraduate level. My interests are Architectural Design, Urban Design and Housing. I have written several conference papers, such as: Sihombing, A. and Hadi A. 2003, 'Signage di Jalur Pedestrian Sebagai Pembangkit Street Life', National Conference 'Quality in Research 2003' (proceeding), Faculty of Engineering University of Indonesia; Sihombing A. and Fuad A. David Thorns is Director of the Social Science Research Centre and Professor of Sociology at the University of Canterbury, New Zealand. He has over 30 years experience as an urban researcher working in the fields of housing, social policy, social inequality, tourism, research methodology and the implications of globalisation. He has published extensively including 10 books. The most recent are The Transformation of Cities (2002) and Community-based Solutions for Sustainable Housing (2000). For the past five years he has directed research programmes funded by the New Zealand Foundation for Research Science and Technology, investigating the Meaning of Home, and the Development of New Residential Areas. He is an executive member of the International Sociological Associations Research Committee on Housing and the Built Environment, a member of the Forum for Research on Human Settlements International Network, and a member of steering committee of the Asia Pacific Housing Research Network.

Research Associate at Hiroshima University, teaching subjects related to urban, social and environmental planning and designs. Obtained Ph.D. at Kyoto University (urban planning) in 1997 and conducted research activities at University Science Malaysia and the National University of Singapore. Awarded an academic prize of Architectural Institute of Japan and various urban design prizes. Currently, a member of the working group for the heritage conservation and urban renewal, including UNESCO's World Heritage sites in Asian region.

Mr Wilfred Y W WONG is Vice Chairman of the Shui On Group. He served the Hong Kong Government from 1975 to 1992, where he held various positions including Deputy Director General of Industry and Deputy Secretary for the Civil Service.

Since 1992, Mr WONG has held senior management positions in a number of well-known Hong Kong listed companies in the property development and construction business. In 1994, he founded China Investment Group Limited, making investments in infrastructure projects in the Chinese Mainland. He was a member of the Basic Law Consultative Committee and the Preparatory Committee of the HKSAR. Currently, Mr WONG is a Deputy to the Tenth National People's Congress, a Trustee of the Business and Professionals Federation of Hong Kong, Vice President of the Yangtze Council, Deputy Chairman of the Court and Council of Hong Kong Baptist University, Council Member of HKUST, Chairman of the HKSAR Social Welfare Advisory Committee and a Member of the Public Service Commission and Youth Commission. He was educated at Harvard University, Oxford University, University of Hong Kong and Chinese University of Hong Kong.

Mr Marco WU Moon-hoi has joined the Hong Kong Government for over thirty-five years. He was educated in Hong Kong and holds a Master Degree in Social Sciences (Urban Studies) from the University of Hong Kong.

Mr WU is a Fellow of The Hong Kong Institute of Surveyors and a Fellow of The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors. He started his career as a Valuation Assistant in the Rating & Valuation Department in 1967. He then joined Housing Department in 1977 as a Senior Estate Surveyor. He took up the post of Deputy Director of Housing Department from 1996 to 2003. Mr WU now holds the post of Director of Buildings.
