Dr Raymond Yau is a Design & Technical Executive of Arup Group and a Technical Director of Ove Arup & Partners Hong Kong Limited. Dr Yau is the Head of Arup Advanced Engineering responsible for building physics and advanced flow engineering applications using advanced computational methods as well as sustainable building design.

Dr Yau has been involved in many prestigious architectures with emphasis on low energy or sustainable building concepts such as the Kansai International Airport in Japan, Parkview Green Plaza in Beijing, Hangzhou Xihu (West Lake) Tiandi and the 2008 Beijing Olympic National Stadium. He also involves in many public housing projects of HKHA as building environmental consultant. Dr Yau is currently responsible for several government consultancy studies relating to sustainable construction in Hong Kong such as the establishment of a database based on life cycle energy analysis of building construction in Hong Kong and the drafting of a comprehensive environmental performance assessment (CEPAS) for buildings in Hong Kong. Dr Yau was also leading the engineering study of the Buildings Department's review of Building Regulations in lighting and ventilation.

Dr Yau was the President of ASHRAE Hong Kong Chapter in Year 2002-2003. He is currently a member at the Working Group on Building Design for Clean and Healthy Environment of Buildings Department as an independent ventilation advisor.

Dr YU's main teaching and research areas are in real estate valuation and public housing. He is a member of the editorial board of the Journal of Property Research, Journal of Investment and Finance and Pacific Rim Property Research Journal. He is the current President of the Pacific Rim Real Estate Society and a founding member of the Asia Pacific Network for Housing Research. He has given many papers at international conferences and has been consultant to local and regional organisations in the areas of valuation and housing.

Mr Seiji Kobata graduated from Waseda University, Faculty of Engineering in March, 1970 and joined Japan Housing Corporation, predecessor of Urban Development Corporation - UDC in April, 1970.

Since joining the department in the head office I have experienced in various field and jobs concerning architecture not only the head office but also branches, regional offices and on-site offices.

During the assignment, I mainly engaged in the design of super-high-rise residential building such as Ebisu, Ten-nousu,Odaiba, redevelopment of architectures such as Shinjuku I Land Tower, Faret Tachikawa, Nakano Sakaue, Akabane & Kameari, the establishment of design standards & contract system, development of KSI housing ( construction of experimental housing), implementation of construction cost reduction program and the removing & reconstruction & preservation of Harumi Apartment House

As an international activities related to UDC works, I engaged as follows

  • CIB w104members (international research on SI housing and so on)
  • Presentation of article in CIB International Conference OBT2000 in Tokyo
  • Organizer of Executive Committee and Chairman of CIB 2002 Urban Regeneration of Tokyo Conference

Rebecca Chiu is Associate Professor of The Centre of Urban Planning and Environmental Management of The University of Hong Kong, specializing in housing studies. Her research interests cover comparative housing policies, housing reforms in transitional economies, housing policy issues, sustainable development and housing, and urban planning and housing. Her research findings have been published widely. She is a former member of the Home Ownership Committee of the Hong Kong Housing Authority. Currently she serves on the Town Planning Board and the Land and Building Advisory Committee of the HKSAR Government. She is the founder Chairperson of the Asia-Pacific Network for Housing Research and the Hong Kong Housing Research Network, and a founding member of the China Housing Industry Association Hong Kong Chapter.

Dr John Keung Kam Yin is the Deputy Chief Executive Officer (Building) of Singapore's Housing & Development Board (HDB). He joined HDB in March 2002 and oversees the activities of the Building Group which is responsible for the planning and development of new towns and housing estates.

Prior to his current appointment, Dr Keung's served as Director of Strategic Planning in the Ministry of National Development, as Deputy Chief Planner (Planning Policies) in the Urban Redevelopment Authority and later, as its Deputy Chief Executive Officer (Development Control and Corporate Development).

Dr Keung graduated from the York University and subsequently obtained a Master of Science and a Doctorate of Philosophy from the University of Wales. He was awarded the Public Administration Medal (Silver) in 1992 for his contribution to public administration.
