Splitting Requests Raised by Sharing Households Arranged by the Housing Department

Before 1985, as there was no provision of Single Persons Units, single persons affected by clearance were required to share accommodation with others. Upon marrige or family reunion, inconvenience or even disputes may occur. We will consider and deal with the splitting requests raised by these sharing households with priority.

Splitting Requests Raised by Family Households or Households Sharing Their Accommodation on a Voluntary Basis

To avoid taking undue advantage over the applicants on the Waiting List (WL), members of familiy housesholds or households sharing their accommodation on a voluntary basis who intend to split from the main household should obtain separate public housing flat through registration on the WL. For special cases with urgent need for a separate accommodation, their splitting requests may be considered if the need is supported by the Social Welfare Department and if the household satisfies other objective criteria (i.e., Comprehensive Means Test and Domestic Property Test).
