The Housing Authority (HA) has launched a territory-wide sample survey on household income of public rental housing (PRH) tenants starting from January 2007. The purpose of this sample survey is to collect precise data on the household income of PRH tenants. Under Section 25(1) of the Housing Ordinance, it is mandatory for households selected to provide the requisite information.
Declaration of Household Income The sample survey is an ongoing one. Every month, 2 000 PRH households will be randomly selected by the HA. They will receive a notification letter along with an income declaration form. The main income categories declarable include remuneration (both from employment and self-employment) and other income (e.g. rental income from property assets and social welfare assistance/allowances, etc).
Information provided by the households will only be used for statistical analysis purposes.
Truthful and Timely Declaration The selected households will have a month to complete the declaration forms. Completed forms must be returned to Public Housing Resources Management Sub-section (Address: Room 802, 8/F Lung Cheung Office Block, 138 Lung Cheung Road, Wong Tai Sin, Kowloon) before the stipulated deadline by post.
Some of these households may be invited to an interview with staff of Public Housing Resources Management Sub-section after they have returned the income declaration forms, or be required to provide documentary proof of income and other related information. The selected households must ensure that the information provided is accurate and truthful. Intentional false declaration, refusal to return the declaration forms or failure to return the declaration forms before the deadline will constitute offences liable to prosecution.
Enquiries Households are welcome to contact staff of Public Housing Resources Management Sub-section on 3162 0688 during office hours for enquiries on the sample survey or for assistance if they have questions when completing the income declaration forms.
