The Hong Kong Housing Authority (HA) develops and implements a public housing programme to provide affordable accommodation for the needy. We also strive to enhance public housing tenants’ quality of life through continuous improvements of their living environment.
To instill a better understanding among the public of the development of public housing in Hong Kong as well as HA’s work over the years, we have set up a Discovery Centre - the Housing Hub at Domain, HA’s shopping mall in Yau Tong. The story of Hong Kong’s public housing development and HA’s achievements are presented through interactive multimedia technologies.
There are display panel and block models showing the milestones of Hong Kong’s public housing development and the evolution of public housing design. Immersive environment with 3-sided projection also allow visitors to experience life in public housing estate of different eras.
HA’s efforts to enhance tenants’ quality of life through continuous improvements in estate management and maintenance are presented using projection mapping with animated graphics. There are also a setting of corridor in public housing block in the 1980’s and a feature wall showing the names of iconic public housing estates.
The design and facilities provided to ensure barrier-free environments for public housing tenants with diverse needs are presented through display of the physical facility items and interactive games.
Through the interactive transparent e-books, building models and various collection of videos, visitors can have a glimpse of the innovative technologies embraced by the HA in the design and construction of public housing.
Visitors can participate in the interactive game to help fight tenancy abuse. Beautiful scenes in public housing estates are displayed in form of collaged photos.
Visitors are invited to unveil the fun facts about HA and public housing in Hong Kong.
