Domain - a Vibrant Shopping Experience in the Making
Construction of the Housing Authority's (HA's) largest integrated commercial centre ¡V Domain ¡V is now in full swing. Scheduled for opening in the second half of next year, it is set to become an exciting new attraction in Kowloon East.
Sitting on top of Yau Tong MTR station and a public transport interchange, Domain is superbly positioned as a regional social and commercial hub. With a total floor area of around 45 000 square metres over eight floors, Domain will offer a host of attractions for public housing tenants and other residents in the region.
Domain's interior design features colours and textures finely selected to create a vibrant ambience for visitors. Revolving around a nature motif, natural elements such as wind, water, light, shadow and sound are also being incorporated into its overall design.
The 150 shops at Domain will offer a comprehensive range of dining, shopping, lifestyle and leisure facilities. Customers will be amazed at the sheer diversity of the dining options and enjoy a superb quality of local and international cuisines. Meeting the diverse needs of shoppers are six shopping zones, each with a distinctive theme and characteristics:
| Themed shopping zones | Characteristics |
| Grab & Go Domain | fast-moving retail |
| Princess Domain | cosmetics, beauty and skincare products |
| Hip Domain | lifestyle and fashion |
| Family Domain | household products |
| Teens Domain | trendy gadgets, toys, books, films and music |
| Party Domain | open spaces for recreation, performance and other activities |
To integrate the shopping and leisure experience, there is a rooftop garden offering an open-air cafˆm and a spacious outdoor area with a panoramic sea view. The garden also includes a green corner for children and their parents for promoting green living and family activities, while also strengthening their sense of belonging towards the community. Play zones with a "natural living" theme are another innovation that will help introduce children to the concept of green living.
The Domain experience got rolling on 7 September, when the HA held a Letter of Acceptance signing ceremony with its two major tenants. Officiating at the ceremony were the Chairman of the HA's Commercial Properties Committee Dr Andrew Chan, the Permanent Secretary for Transport and Housing (Housing) Mr D W Pescod, and the Deputy Director of Housing (Estate Management) Mr Albert Lee.
