The HA Exhibition Centre: A Vivid Glimpse of Hong Kong Public Housing Development
After finishing at the two-dimensional Display Panels zone, visitors continue on to the three-dimensional Physical Exhibits zone. The building models, mock-up flats and other physical displays there give visitors a vivid glimpse of the social changes that have taken place over the past few decades, and demonstrate how the facilities in public housing estates have been further improved. |
To demonstrate how architectural designs have enhanced in recent years, for instance through the use of pre-cast units and the application of micro-climate studies, exhibits at the Centre are regularly updated with relevant models and displays. |
After enjoying this review of public housing development over the past six decades, visitors move on to the Observation Bridge. There, they can see a “Diorama” or three-dimensional Hong Kong map on a scale of 1:1 000, constructed under the glass Observation Bridge and floor. It clearly shows the distribution and size of the HA’s properties in various districts of Hong Kong. |
Last but not the least, visitors coming to the “Interactive Corner” can freely browse the various collections of photos and videos there, or participate in interactive games that give them a better idea of how public housing has developed. |
The Exhibition Centre welcomes both casual and group visitors. Groups can be given guided tours by appointment. The Centre is open on Mondays and from Wednesday to Saturday, and closed on Tuesdays, Sundays and public holidays. For enquiries and making visit appointments, please call 2129 8015. |
