The application period for the programme closed at 6:00 p.m. on 31 August 2024, with about 180 applications received. The Hong Kong Housing Authority (HA) announced the list of successful applicants on 2 October 2024. The successful applicants will operate in seven HA shopping centres in different districts. Details on the list of successful applicants and their assigned locations are as follows -

Food With Benefits (FWB), a local food technology company founded in 2022 by students and the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST), develops nutritious and delicious healthy foods that address food waste. Their ready-to-drink smoothies utilize fresh fruits and vegetables, are sugar-free, preserve the essence of the ingredients, and offer convenience while extending shelf life and reducing supply chain waste. FWB is more than just a brand; it represents a healthier and more sustainable lifestyle.

 

 

 

Tiga Milk

Tiga Milk, made from tiger nuts, oats, and non-GMO soybeans, is sugar-free, lactose-free, and rich in calcium, Omega-3, and Omega-9 fatty acids. Perfect for coffee, tea, and smoothies. It is a winner of the Experts' Choice Award for Quality Plant-Based Dairy Alternative at Vegetarian Food Asia 2024. The company also offers regular STEM education classes.

   

Wasabi

Wasabi, a Hong Kong fashion brand founded in 2024, embraces the Japanese philosophy of wabi-sabi, celebrating imperfect beauty. It offers high-quality, uniquely designed, and affordable clothing for young people, aiming to become a leading Hong Kong fashion brand. Wasabi fosters a space that combines retail, culture, and community interaction, supporting local artists and sustainable practices, and includes a used clothing recycling service.

Algae Hub

This innovative brand explores ocean-based solutions to food security and climate change, researching seaweed as a tool for carbon sequestration and ocean ecosystem restoration. The store sells seaweed-based products, such as soap, candles, and other seaweed items, and also hosts STEM workshops to promote sustainable seaweed cultivation.

 

 

Wind.n.Sand

This brand features handcrafted accessories made from upcycled coffee pods, promoting sustainable practices and aiming to develop into a social enterprise. Coffee capsules and aluminum can pull-tabs are the primary materials, transformed into unique and stylish accessories. In addition to its distinctive products, the brand provides a recycling service for coffee capsules, wine corks, and can pull-tabs, as well as educational workshops.

Hoi Lai Shopping Centre

Lost and Meow

A unique experience center focused on stray cats, this social enterprise provides employment opportunities and skills development for deaf and mute individuals. The center aims to foster positive interactions between people and cats while increasing public awareness about stray cats and their needs. Activities offered include interactive sessions with the cats (including meals and board games), workshops to raise awareness about stray cats, cat-themed craft classes, and assistance with stray cat adoption.


Shui Chuen O Plaza

EcoSense Group

This brand promotes proper resource recycling and ecological systems by upcycling organic waste into products and educational programs to foster sustainable development. Products include fish-vegetable symbiotic systems, household black soldier fly (BSF) food waste recycling boxes, and eco-friendly planters made from recycled PET bottles, allowing citizens to experience ecological cycles firsthand. Drawing inspiration from local businesses and community members, it employs generative AI technology to reinterpret the area's unique character. The space functions as a "public gallery," connecting businesses and residents, and delves into the community to uncover its stories. Original designs inspired by local businesses and the community are sold, including decorative wall hangings, posters, and merchandise such as tote bags, folders, and postcards.

 

Recycle Lab by GrinBean

This recycling technology experience center utilizes Internet of Things (IoT) and machine vision technology to improve waste management and recycling processes. A key feature is a self-developed AI-powered automated sorting recycling machine on display. The center also stocks products from a variety of local eco-conscious businesses, aiming to increase public awareness of recycling. Educational workshops and information on local recycling programs are offered to promote best practices.

 

Kwai Chung Shopping Centre

define CLEAN

define CLEAN is a green technology startup located in Hong Kong Science Park that researches, develops, and manufactures natural solid cleaning products. The company uses plastic-free packaging and natural ingredients in its formulations, offering a range of personal and household cleaning products at prices comparable to supermarket chemical cleaners.

 

 

UnReMarket

UnReMarket, inspired by the idea of "hidden gems," focuses on selling high-quality products nearing their expiration dates at discounted prices. This allows customers to enjoy premium products at a more affordable cost while also encouraging repeat purchases of similar items in the future.

Zoo’s Series

This unique space combines a self-service workshop and retail shop, using crochet to promote environmental consciousness and build community. It provides customized product and gift package services, along with its own original crochet designs and material kits from other brands. The workshop offers a relaxed environment for learning and creating crochet projects.

 

Queens Hill Shopping Centre

Korean Sister’s Snack

Responding to the increasing popularity of Korean culture in Hong Kong, this takeaway stall offers a range of affordable Korean snacks. The stall prioritizes high-quality ingredients and traditional Korean flavors to provide an authentic culinary experience. New menu items will be introduced regularly, with some featuring organic and additive-free ingredients to meet the demand for healthy eating options.

 

Pop-Up Store

GreenBox Technology

Dedicated to promoting reusable silicone food containers as a sustainable alternative to disposable plastic takeout containers, GreenBox Technology focuses on marketing its own designs to retailers. They are using retail stores as pilot programs to test and promote a circular reuse and cleaning system for the containers. Future plans involve expanding their cleaning services, exploring social circular economy models, and providing employment opportunities for disadvantaged groups.

 

 

Lekee Chili Oil

A part-time Sichuan and Cantonese cuisine instructor who also develops unique seasonings and sauces. Their signature product is a homemade chili oil with a rich aroma and moderate spiciness, appealing to various spice preferences. Made with fresh chilies and shallots, this handcrafted chili oil blends Shanghai and local Hong Kong styles. They also offer chili oil options for shrimp-allergic and vegetarian individuals, as well as other products like radish cakes.

 

RENO VLOOR Entertainment Floor

The 3D LED interactive entertainment floor provides an innovative and engaging gaming experience. Players are challenged to jump and maintain their balance on a dynamic 3D grid that constantly changes, making it enjoyable for people of all ages.
