Mr Derek SALTER is a principal of Salmon Speed Architects, and is also a founding Director of Care Design Group, a specialist health care planning consultancy with offices in London and Baltimore. He contributes to articles on healthcare subjects and is a co-eidtor of "Futurecare - New directors in planning health and care environments", publiched by Blackwell Science. He has carried out research into retirement facilities in the United States, Scandinavia and Europe and frequently speaks at international conference on designing accommodation for older people. Currently he is advising public, private and charitable care providers on the design of new facilities.
