The life cycle of the activities of the Housing Authority (HA) have potentially
significant impacts on the environment and relate to a range of health and
safety issues. Identification of environmental, health and safety (EHS)
aspects thus, becomes a crucial step in developing our policies and setting
our goals and objectives. Assessing related EHS issues can reduce the potential
for unforeseen costs to the environment and society at large.
Environmental concerns have always been a key focus of the HA and the value
of healthy living and safe workplace has increasingly been drawn to our
attention in recent years. We try to adopt a holistic approach to achieve
sustainable housing through all stages of our operations, from our planning
and design, allocation and office administration at office to construction
works on site, and estate management. Our updated Integrated Pay for Safety,
Environmental and Hygiene Scheme covers all significant EHS aspects and
is applied to all HA building, foundation, demolition and civil engineering
contracts.
The Authority is moving towards the development of a comprehensive EHS management
system where all significant EHS issues can be identified, managed and monitored.
