The MMS draws on reality capture technology for mapping, utilising a sophisticated set of navigation tools and remote sensors to collect geospatial data from laser scanners and highresolution cameras.The MMS equipment is housed in a backpack to allow technicians to seamlessly navigate building interiors to perform the scanning works. The technician is equipped with 360-degree cameras and laser scanners both above his head and in front of his chest which can capture vertical and horizontal images simultaneously and generate a detailed 360-degree panoramic view and a point cloud model with an impressively high level of accuracy, with deviations of within 8mm.In under two minutes, the MMS can complete the scanning of a typical flat. The images it collects together with other data are then used to construct a virtual 3D digital model, and AI tools quickly identify any defects. Furthermore, the digital record created by the MMS allows us to compare the as-built condition of the interior of an entire residential block against the BIM construction models.
