Works are carried out under the Estate Improvement Programme (EIP) to ensure older public rental housing estates continue to provide their residents with a decent living environment. We have been carrying out planned programmes for renewing the fresh water pipes, upgrading the CCTV security systems, replacing the electrical wires and re-waterproofing the roofs. We have also been improving the pedestrian access of the older estates by adding lifts for blocks lacking such installations and in the estate common areas to connect platforms of different heights.

On the other hand, estates that have been identified for preservation under the Comprehensive Structural Investigation Programme will be rejuvenated under the EIP. Apart from renovating the building structures, upgrading the common areas and doing facelifts for the external façades, a host of new facilities will be provided to meet the needs of the residents, to bring vigour to the community and to forge stronger ties in the neighbourhood.
