ISO Certificate Awarded to PRH Estates in Several Regions
Main content
Following the award of the certification to ISO 50001 Energy Management System (EnMS) issued by the Hong Kong Quality Assurance Agency (HKQAA) at the pilot estate, i.e. Kwai Shing West Estate, in June 2013; the Hong Kong Housing Authority (HA) has implemented ISO 50001 EnMS at all public rental housing (PRH) estates in two phases.
Phase one covers 621 domestic blocks at 92 estates in regions of Kwai Chung; Kowloon East; Tai Po, North, Sha Tin and Sai Kung; as well as Tuen Mun and Yuen Long. Subsequent to the implementation of ISO 50001 EnMS in October 2013, extended certificate to cover all these 92 estates was received from the HKQAA in August 2014. This extended certification has recognised the HA’s persistent contribution and commitment to energy saving and carbon reduction in its PRH estates. Phase two, covering 539 domestic blocks at 75 estates in regions of Kowloon West and Hong Kong, as well as Wong Tai Sin, Tsing Yi, Tsuen Wan and Islands, commenced in April 2014. It is anticipated that certification will be awarded in April 2015.
The HA will continue enhancing its energy performance and subsequently reduce the overall carbon emission. ISO 50001 EnMS is expected to be fully implemented across all PRH estates in April 2015.
