The Hong Kong Housing Authority’s (HA’s) contractors of new works and maintenance works have recently been commended in the Construction Industry Safety Award Scheme 2014/2015. A total of 20 awards were received, including three Gold, three Silver, three Bronze, seven Merit awards and four Attendance Certificates in the categories of Building Sites (Public Sector), Renovation and Maintenance Works, Minor Renovation and Maintenance Works, Building Sites (Sub-contractor), Renovation and Maintenance Works (Sub-contractor) and Safety Teams.
Co-officiating at the award presentation ceremony, the Assistant Director of Housing (Development and Procurement), Mrs Irene Cheng, said that ensuring site safety and health is the responsibility of all workers at work site. By paying due attention to site safety, we can achieve the common goal of providing a safe working environment to safeguard the lives of workers, thus putting their families’ mind at ease.
The Scheme is an annual event organised by the Labour Department to raise safety awareness among stakeholders and to promote a safety culture in the industry. It has been well received and supported by different organisations of the industry.
