Hong Kong Housing Authority and Housing Department

The Housing Department (HD) has been honoured with two awards in the Civil Service Outstanding Service Award Scheme 2015 organised by the Civil Service Bureau. Representatives from the award winning team proudly joined the Award Presentation Ceremony held on 4 September.

The Project of "Estate Revitalisation in Ping Shek Estate" has won the Meritorious Award and Special Citation (Responsiveness to Customer Needs) in the category of General Public Service Team Award. The latter award is newly introduced in 2015 to recognise the department's effort in understanding and responding to the changing needs of customers. 

The HD decided in 2010 to revitalise the 40-year-old Ping Shek Estate with the aim to provide a quality home and sustainable living environment to meet tenants' rising needs and the community development. The scope of project covers improving the tenants' living environment, enhancing home safety to the special needs of elderly and physically impaired residents, providing barrier-free access, expanding quality communal space and promoting greening estate.

As the improvement works need to be carried out with tenants-in-situ, the team members communicated extensively with different stakeholders throughout the whole project period. With the excellent team work and creative problem-solving skills of the project team, the improvement works were successfully completed in mid-2014. The colleagues have been featured in the "Serve with Heart" video produced by the Civil Service Bureau sharing their thoughts in serving residents.
