Waste Reduction in PRH estates – Recycling Mooncake Boxes

To boost awareness of environmental protection and to promote waste reduction among public rental housing (PRH) tenants, the Hong Kong Housing Authority (HA) has continued the campaign entitled “Let's join hands to reduce waste in our estates” across all PRH estates this year. A series of promotional activities has been arranged to remind PRH residents to reduce municipal solid waste.

The "Mooncake Box Recycling Programme 2016" launched in September is one of the waste reduction activities. To disseminate the message of recycling, the HA has displayed at its estates, shopping centres, markets and HA Headquarters the event posters and has set up collection points for used mooncake boxes. Residents, commercial tenants and colleagues are encouraged to bring to the collection points their mooncake boxes, which will then be sent to recyclers for recycling.
