Construction Safety Forum and Award Presentation Ceremony

The Hong Kong Housing Authority’s (HA’s) contractors of new works and maintenance works contracts have been commended in the Construction Safety Forum and Award Presentation Ceremony 2017. Co-organised by the Occupational Safety and Health Council, Labour Department, Construction Industry Council, government departments, trade associations and workers’ unions, the event was held on 5 July. A total of 367 entries competed for seven award categories, namely “Best Programme to Prevent Heat Stroke at Work”, “Best Method Statement”, “Best Safety Enhancement Programme for Working at Height”, “Competition on Safety Culture”, “Best Refurbishment and Maintenance Contractor in Occupational Safety and Health”, “Outstanding Scaffolder in Occupational Safety and Health”, and “Outstanding Lift and Escalator Mechanic in Occupational Safety and Health”. The HA contractors received 11 awards in total, including three Gold, two Silver, one Bronze and five Merit awards in the categories of “Best Programme to Prevent Heat Stroke at Work”, “Best Safety Enhancement Programme for Working at Height”, “Competition on Safety Culture”, “Best Refurbishment and Maintenance Contactor in Occupational Safety and Health” and “Best Presentation”. Kiu Cheong Road and Ngan Kwong Wan Road East and West Sites as well as Public Rental Housing Development at Shek Kip Mei Estate Phases 3, 6 and 7 both received a number of awards.
