Public Housing Vistas – Valuable Large Trees in Public Housing Estates

About 100 000 trees are planted in the public housing estates of the Hong Kong Housing Authority. Some of them are recorded in the Government's Register of Old and Valuable Trees.

Tai Hing Estate
Over 45 years old, India-rubber Tree / Ficus elastica was elected as one of the Top Ten Favourite Trees in public housing estates and has been included under the Register of Old and Valuable Trees.

Sau Mau Ping Estate
About 20 metres tall with a crown spread of 35 metres, the silk-tree / Albizia julibrissin was elected as the Champion Tree of Kwun Tong District in 1997. It was included under the Register of Old and Valuable Trees.

Choi Hung Estate
Mountain Fig / Ficus altissima, about 50 years old, was elected as one of the Top Ten Favourite Trees in public housing estates and was also included under the Register of Old and Valuable Trees.

Mei Lam Estate
About 80 years old, Big-Leaved Fig / Ficus virens var. sublanceolata is one of the oldest trees in the estate and was elected as one of the Top Ten Favourite trees in public housing estates.
