To strengthen the rent enquiry service to public rental housing tenants after the cessation of service of Rent Enquiry Kiosk in estate offices in July 2017 and to meet the public’s expectation for accessing information/services through mobile devices, the Hong Kong Housing Authority (HA) launched the first mobile application (iHousing App) for tenants on 13 December 2017.

The iHousing App provides a wide range of services by phases. The first phase covers rent enquiry and payment services. Tenants can enjoy the convenient services anytime and anywhere by using a Quick Response (QR) code provided by the App for paying rent at any 7-Eleven, Circle K Convenience Store, China Resources Vanguard Supermarket or VanGo Convenience Store. They can also check the rent position and rent payment history of the past six months, and receive rent payment reminder and notification messages of the latest rent policy of the HA. The App also displays through Global Positioning System (GPS) the location of the nearby estate shroff offices, convenience stores and supermarkets for rent payment.

Three sessions of Beta Test of the iHousing App were held for Estate Management Advisory Committee (EMAC) representatives from various estates in early November 2017. Appointed as iHousing Ambassadors to assist in promoting the iHousing App in their estates, the representatives gave full support to the App.

To encourage tenants to download and use the iHousing App, the HA is organising a series of promotional events including lucky draws between December 2017 and April 2018. An award will be presented to an estate with the highest usage rate of iHousing App in the biennial EMAC Seminar to be held in March 2018.

The iHousing App can be downloaded free of charge from the Apple App Store or Google Play. Tenants registered with the HA e-Services accounts can login iHousing with the same user accounts. To look forward, the HA will make use of the App to provide more functions for tenants, aiming at enhancing the quality of management services.
