Hong Kong Housing Authority and Housing Department

The Hong Kong Housing Authority (HA) has recently honoured with the Achievement Award in the category of Renewable Energy in the Smart Energy Award, in recognition of its achievement in energy saving and energy management. Firstly held this year, the Award was organised by CLP Power Hong Kong Limited, with its prize presentation ceremony held on 18 October.

To promote solar energy, reduce carbon emission and improve air quality; the HA has integrated the grid-connected photovoltaic (PV) systems into the design of public rental housing (PRH) estates since 2011. The electricity generated from PV systems supports part of the electricity consumption of corridor lights, lifts and water pumps of domestic blocks. So far, the HA has installed PV systems at around 80 PRH domestic blocks with a total capacity of about 780kWp. The achievement of the work is far reaching.
