To support the policies and initiatives of the Government and the Housing Authority (HA), the Housing Department is constantly looking for ways to adjust its manpower, use of technology, office accommodation, etc, in the light of changing circumstances for the benefit of the public and our staff.
Following HA’s decision to regularise the Green Form Subsidised Home Ownership Scheme (GSH), the Department is required to launch an application and sale exercise under the Home Ownership Scheme (HOS) and another for GSH once a year. To this end, we have examined the current sale procedures, the e-application plan under preparation, the need of the public for access to displays, enquiry and waiting area, as well as the overall demand and supply of office accommodation. In order to offer enhanced one-stop service for applicants, we have decided to keep the HA Customer Service Centre in Lok Fu as a dedicated venue for processing application and sales of HOS, and to find another site for handling those of GSH.
Exhibition, briefing and interview areas will be made available at the new service centre for GSH in Kwun Tong where the public can view doll houses of modular flats, building models and exhibition panels, and learn more about GSH developments. The design of the new centre has taken into account the need to manage customer flow during the sales period by, for example, providing escalators leading directly to the ground level. The GSH Sales Unit, with about 50 staff members, has to relocate to the new centre at short notice for providing services to customers. I would like to extend my gratitude to colleagues of various units for working hard on site selection, design, fitting-out, relocation, restructuring and so on. I hope our concerted efforts will facilitate the workflow of the new centre, so that the public we serve will be able to enjoy efficient and targeted services.
With the festive season and holidays just around the corner, may I wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
