Hung Fuk Estate Received Silver Award of HKIP Awards

The Housing Department (HD) has recently been honoured with the Silver Award of the Hong Kong Institute of Planners (HKIP) Awards 2018 for its outstanding achievements in town planning of Hung Fuk Estate. This award is the highest level of recognition the HD gained from the HKIP.

The entry “Hung Fuk Estate – Harmony for Everyone – Integrated Rural and Urban Living Starts with People-oriented Planning” depicted how the project team applied the key planning principle of people-first to the whole development, balanced the interests among different stakeholders, and turned challenges into opportunities through creating planning gains to the local communities as well as the society.

The adjudicators of the Awards commended Hung Fuk Estate as “a truly impressive medium-density public housing project, compatible with the surrounding rural environment and culture through the wise application of good urban planning and design principles”, and considered it “an excellent example for similar housing developments to follow suit”. Panels on the Hung Fuk Estate project have been displayed at the HKIP Awards 2018 Public Exhibition which is open to the general public. Details of the exhibition are listed below:
