Supporting Environmental Protection and Waste Reduction

To promote environmental protection and waste reduction among its public rental housing (PRH) tenants and its staff, the Hong Kong Housing Authority (HA) regularly organises educational and community programmes.

The annual estate-wide Waste Reduction Campaign has been launching in 20 PRH estates. Starting from early January, the theme characters “Waste Reduction Honey Bee” and “Slim Garbage Bin” have been visiting the following estates to disseminate green messages and to provide tips on waste reduction, recycling and reuse in daily life to the tenants. Details of the tours of theme characters are lisited below:

Photo: HA staff actively support the Environmental Collection and Recycling Campaign held at the HA Headquarters.

The HA has also organised environmental protection activities to promote green messages among its staff. One of the recent activities is to join hands again with the Community Recycling Coop of the Industrial Relations Institute in Sham Shui Po, a government-approved non-profit making charity organisation, to run the Environmental Collection and Recycling Campaign. HA staff are encouraged to reduce and recycle surplus household items by donating them to the needy for further use. Collection points are as follows:
