Hong Kong Housing Authority and Housing Department

The Hong Kong Housing Authority (HA) has recently sent its delegation to attend the 24^th Conference of the Housing and Urban Public Corporations in Asia (A-HUC). Hosted by the Korea Land and Housing Corporation, the three-day conference was held from 18 to 20 November in Seoul.

Led by Mr Patrick Luk, Assistant Director of Housing (Project), members of the HA Delegation exchanged experience with the delegations of housing organisations of Japan, Singapore and South Korea on the theme of “Inclusive City and Housing”. Our work on “Inclusive Housing – Experience Sharing for an Evolving Community” and experience in fostering “Harmonious Living and Neighbourhoods in Public Housing” were shared.

During the site visit, delegates visited Pangyo, a new town in the south of Seoul, which has become a synonym of high tech district and attracted high income class in South Korea. Pangyo set a good example for building a multi-functional eco-city with people at all income levels to live in harmony. Around 70% of households in the new town are accommodated in public rental or subsidised sale housing units.

The four member organisations of A-HUC – the HA, the Korea Land and Housing Corporation of Korea, Housing and Development Board of Singapore and the Urban Renaissance Agency of Japan – take turns to host the annual conference. The conference will be held in Japan next year.
