To celebrate its 50^th anniversary, the Hong Kong Housing Authority (HA) is organising a series of events, including the HA Cup 3x3 Basketball Challenge which aims to showcase the vitality and “can-do” spirit of the younger generation in public housing estates, and to foster a sense of belonging to their estates.

The Basketball Challenge took place at the basketball court in Shek Lei (II) Estate, Kwai Chung on 19 and 20 August. The Secretary for Housing, Ms Winnie Ho; the Permanent Secretary for Housing, Miss Rosanna Law; the Under Secretary for Housing, Mr Victor Tai and some members of the HA attended the finals and cheered for the players. Ms Ho encouraged young people in housing estates to be a visionary and determined person, and to strive for their goals.

Co-organised by the HA and InspiringHK Sports Foundation, a sports charity organisation, the Basketball Challenge was participated by players coming from the Foundation’s WELLDUNK! training programme. Most of the players are youngsters aged below 18 living in public housing estates.
