Hong Kong Housing Authority and Housing Department

The Government organises various Summer Internship Programmes every year to enable students from tertiary institutions who are interested in joining the civil service to have a better grasp of the Government’s operation, to gain practical work experience, and to facilitate their future career planning.  This year, 42 students from different institutions were offered to work in the Housing Department (HD) under the Programme for a period of two to three months.  They were assigned to the internship positions in the Development and Construction Division (DCD), Estate Management Division (EMD), Strategy Division (SD), the Sales of First-hand Residential Properties Authority and the Task Force on Transitional Housing.

The Department arranged a series of briefing sessions, visits and experience activities for students to learn about the various aspects of the work of the HD, and to have a better understanding of its scope.  In addition to meeting the management of the HD, the students participated in the briefing sessions on the introduction to the Housing Authority (HA), Building Information Modelling (BIM) and estate maintenance.  They also visited various places and installations, including the project site of the new Home Ownership Scheme (HOS) of Kai Yan Court, the Solar Photovoltaic (PV) system in Lok Wah North Estate, the Automated Refuse Collection System (ARCS) in Kwai Chung Estate and the office of the Green Form Subsidised Home Ownership Scheme (GSH) Sales Unit.

Student representatives shared their internship experience in different posts of the HD at the experience sharing session cum presentation ceremony on 31 August.  After the sharing session, the Director of Housing Miss Rosanna Law presented certificates of internship to the students and encouraged them to join the HD or other government departments after graduation to unleash their potential.
