Celebration Ceremony for HA 50th Anniversary

To celebrate the 50th anniversary of its establishment, the Hong Kong Housing Authority (HA) organised a celebration ceremony, officiated by The Chief Executive, Mr John Lee, and Deputy Director of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, Mr He Jing, on 12 December. Over 100 distinguished guests attended the ceremony, including former HA chairmen, members of the Executive Council and Legislative Council, HA members, dignitaries, professionals from various sectors, and representatives of HA staff associations. |

The ceremony was held at Domain in Yau Tong, the HA's flagship shopping mall. An exhibition showcasing the winning entries of the public housing photography contest was concurrently held. The public are welcome to visit Domain and tour the exhibition free of charge. The exhibition will run until 19 January 2024, later roving at other housing estate shopping centres. |

The HA has launched an array of celebratory activities for its 50th anniversary. An eight-episode documentary series covering interviews with key figures who have driven and witnessed the progress of public housing development, former and current HA members, and Housing Department staff, etc, has been produced. It documents the past milestones and HA's continued commitment to the betterment of our citizens. The series will be broadcast on Radio Television Hong Kong (RTHK) Channel 31, starting from 17 December, with each episode running for half an hour. |

In addition, a commemorative book entitled "From Shelter to Home: Striding across 50 Years of Public Housing" has been published. It features valuable memories and experiences shared by former HA chairmen, interesting stories from celebrities and HA staff who grew up in public housing estates, as well as precious historical photographs and some winning entries from the public housing photography contest. Various celebratory activities catering for people of different ages and interests have been organised. Such activities include logo design competition, New Year's couplets for residents, a Blueprint x Footprint Treasure Hunt self-guided tour of housing estates, public housing photography contest, 3x3 basketball challenge, lucky bags for elderly residents during the Mid-Autumn Festival, "Evolution of Public Housing in Hong Kong - Dialogue with the New Generation" forum, and roving exhibitions of winning entries of the photography contest.
