Jointly organised by the Hong Kong Housing Authority (HA) and industry organisations, the presentation ceremony of the Quality Public Housing Construction and Maintenance Awards 2019 was held on 30 November to recognise the excellent performance of contractors, sub-contractors, project teams, supervisors and front-line workers.
Officiating at the award presentation ceremony, Mr Donald Tong, Permanent Secretary for Transport and Housing (Housing), said that 20 new works projects had been launched over the past two years, providing about 40 000 public housing flats, including those under public rental housing, Green Form Subsidised Home Ownership Scheme and Home Ownership Scheme.
Mr Tong commended the practitioners for introducing innovative technologies and applying them extensively to design, construction and testing. Their contribution has not only enhanced the built quality, but also been instrumental in mitigating negative impact on the environment.
This is the 14th awards presentation ceremony. More than 140 awards were honoured this year. The judging panel comprised representatives of the HA and co-organisers including the Hong Kong Construction Association Limited, the Hong Kong Federation of Electrical and Mechanical Contractors Limited, the Hong Kong Construction Sub-Contractors Association, the Hong Kong Construction Industry Employees General Union, the Construction Site Workers General Union, the Hong Kong and Kowloon Electrical Engineering and Appliances Trade Workers Union, the Hong Kong General Union of Lift and Escalator Employees, the Labour Department, the Occupational Safety and Health Council, the Construction Industry Council and the Vocational Training Council.
Information of the awards has been uploaded onto the Housing Authority / Housing Department Website.
